Partai Nasional Demokrat or NasDem

The National Democratic Party (Partai Nasional Demokrat or NasDem) of Indonesia was officially established on October 26, 2011. It was founded by Surya Paloh, a media tycoon and influential figure in the Indonesian media industry. NasDem was formed with the goal of becoming a moderate and inclusive political party, advocating for democracy, good governance, and social justice.

Surya Paloh, who had been involved in various media ventures, including ownership of the Media Indonesia newspaper and Metro TV, played a key role in founding NasDem. The party positioned itself as a centrist and nationalist party, aiming to bridge the gap between different political ideologies and promote unity in the country.

NasDem gained popularity relatively quickly and participated in national elections. In the 2014 legislative elections, NasDem managed to secure seats in the Indonesian People's Consultative Assembly (MPR) and the People's Consultative Assembly (DPR).
